Why Tithe?
When we choose to tithe, it’s not about what we get in return, rather, it’s about honoring God with what He has given us. “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father…” James 1:17 We know that God has supplied for all of our needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19) and since He has provided for us in so many ways we long to give Him thanks and honor for what He’s done!
Malachi 3:10 "Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it."
When we give the first 10% of our income, we are acknowledging that God is first in our lives and we trust Him.The Tithe, or “first-fruits” of our labor/income belong to God. He can do more with our 90% than we can with 100%.
Why give offerings?
An offering is any gift above and beyond what is the 10% tithe. God loves cheerful givers (2 Corinthians 9:7) and we know that He will honor those who give freely and joyfully.
